Terms and Elections
At its annual August meeting 7 Board Members are elected to serve terms lasting 3 years. After 3 terms, members are ineligible for election to another term, though they may be re-elected after a three-year hiatus. Mid-term vacancies are also filled at the August meeting. An individual elected to fill a mid-term vacancy serves the remainder of the term he or she was elected to fill, and is eligible to be elected for two additional three-year terms. Thus, Board members may be elected to serve for anywhere from 7-9 consecutive years.
Each year, in late July or early August, the Board Nominations Committee solicits applications for membership on the Board from Board members who are eligible for reelection to an additional term and from others who may be willing to serve. Applicants must submit an application form providing information about their eligibility and interest. Usually, applicants are invited to a reception, where they have the opportunity to meet current Board members, provide further information about their interest in serving on the Board, and ask questions about Board service. Applicants are also encouraged to meet with current and past Board members to discuss their interest in serving and to obtain additional information about the responsibilities of Board Membership.
Elections are held at the Annual Board Meeting, held, according to the Bylaws, in August, of each year, in the Campgrounds. Additional meetings are customarily held on Saturdays of Columbus Day weekend in October, Rev Mr. Luther King’s Birthday weekend in January, and Memorial Day weekend in May. The August, October, and May meetings are usually held in the Campgrounds. The January meeting is usually held elsewhere in New England.
