David Crohan's
75th Birthday Concert

Pianist David Crohan, a Vineyard favorite,
returns to the Tabernacle for his 75th birthday celebration.

July 11th, 2019 at 8pm

One of the most versatile pianists performing today, David Crohan crosses the traditional boundaries between classical and jazz music with an ease and sophistication that is the envy of many of his colleagues. His performances have aroused admiration all over the United States in audiences which have included such distinguished people as President and Mrs. Clinton, Walter Cronkite, Lady Bird Johnson, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Billy Joel and many others. In 1990, he was privileged to entertain Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy on the occasion of her 100th birthday.

David Crohan first became part of the Oak Bluffs scene at age 19, when his aunt brought him to the island to visit relatives. Since that time David worked and spent each summer on the Island - entertaining on Circuit Avenue.

In 1976 David purchased a cottage located on John Wesley Avenue - near the Baptist temple - from the Andrew's family. The house - gingerbread in style - was built in 1873.

In 1978 David purchased the old "Island House" and transformed it into "David's Island House" - which he ran and enjoyed for 20 years. David is a well known professional pianist, vocalist and band leader - he travels throughout delighting each one... David's main gig these days is "The Bay Tower" on State Street in Boston.

Since the sale of "David's Island House", he continues to concertize on the island and occasionally finds time to enjoy the cottage with his wife - Claudette Cartier Crohan.

With all of his Island history we are beyond excited to have him back in the Tabernacle!

Tickets priced at $20 will be available at the door, on the MVCMA website and the MCMCA Cottage Museum.
