Why does the MVCMA need money? I thought you received lots of money from land rentals.
The MVCMA owns 34 acres and covers all of its day to day property maintenance expenses with the revenue from its land leases. Unfortunately, the expenses associated with maintaining our historic buildings and grounds are significant, and the revenue is not enough to maintain the Tabernacle and quality programming as well. Considering the size and complexity of the organization, we are leanly run. This is in no small part due to the many people who donate their time. Without those volunteers, our expenses would be much greater.
I thought you were a Home Owner's Association. Why don't you just charge the cottage owners more?
We are not an H.O.A., but a religious nonprofit. Cottage owners pay lease fees for the land that their cottages rest on which supports the maintenance of our roads and grounds, staff, administrative expenses such as real estate taxes and insurance. It does not cover everything, however; nor should it, since the majority of our programs at the Tabernacle are public and open to all. Many cottage owners are also integral participants in the MVCMA; and make additional contributions of their time, talents, and/or financial support, for which we are very grateful.
Where does my donation go?
100% of the donations received go toward the designated fund or programming area. Choices include contributing toward our religious or community summer programs, or the Tabernacle Restoration fund, to name a few.
