Rules for Renters

Individuals occupying cottages on the MVCMA who are neither family members of MVCMA Leaseholders nor guests of MVCMA Leaseholders as defined in the MVCMA Rental Rules for cottage owners

Cottage occupants are expected to observe the MVCMA good neighbor policy and recognize a mutual dependence of each neighbor upon the others in the neighborhood. The rules listed below are to insure the safety, security and peaceful coexistence of all Campground residents, tenants and visitors, who live in close proximity with each other. Thank you for abiding by them.

We invite you to participate in Campground activities during your stay. We wish you a pleasant and relaxing time on Martha’s Vineyard.

Questions about these rules and activities in the Campground can be answered in the MVCMA Office at 80 Trinity Park (508-693-0525). However, questions and issues involving your rental must be taken up with the cottage owner or the owner’s agent.

Please Read:

  1. Registration: 1.  All tenants must registered by the cottage owner in advance of arrival. Rental packets and parking passes will be available on MVCMA office building porch day of arrival. Failure to register in a timely manner is grounds for eviction from the cottage and MVCMA property.

  2. Tenant and General Rules: Failure of a tenant to abide by the MVCMA rules and regulations may result in the eviction of the tenant and all members of the tenant’s party from the cottage and MVCMA property. At registration tenants must sign an acknowledgement of familiarity with the rules and regulations and an agreement to be bound thereby.

  3. Occupancy: Tenancy is defined as (1) the use and occupancy of the cottage in the absence of the owner, or (2) the payment of or the expectation of a consideration in money or otherwise for the use of all or part of the cottage. No tenant may occupy a cottage between November 1 and April 1.

  4.  Vehicles: Tenant vehicles parked on MVCMA roads or parking areas must display a current MVCMA hang tag on the inside rear view mirror. Hang tags are obtained from the MVCMA Office at registration. Other vehicle rules:
    a.  A vehicle hangtag or sticker must be displayed on the specific vehicle for which it was issued and may not be transferred to another vehicle.
    b.  Tenant vehicles must park in the space(s) assigned to the cottage. Tenants not provided parking by cottage owners may lease space from the MVCMA Office on a weekly basis.
    c.  Vehicles may not be parked overnight on MVCMA streets.
    d.  The speed limit for vehicles traveling within the Campground is 10 MPH.
    e.  Motorcycles and motor‐driven mopeds are not permitted on MVCMA property.  Mopeds may be pedaled in the Campground.
    f.   Boats, trailers, campers and RVs may not be parked on MVCMA property.

  5. Trash: Trash is collected on Mondays and Thursdays in July and August and on Mondays only September through June. Trash must be in bags and placed out for collection no later than 8:00am on collection days. Trash left out on non‐collection days must be in a covered and secured container.
    a.  MVCMA trash bags must be used for trash to be collected by the MVCMA. MVCMA trash bags may be purchased at the Museum Shop, behind the MVCMA Museum.
    b.  Yard waste must be in approved paper yard waste bags, which do not require a MVCMA trash bag.
    c.  Recyclables are not collected by Campground employees. Consult the cottage owner for proper disposal of recyclables.

  6. Pets: Tenants and their guests are not allowed to have dogs/pets in cottages nor on MVCMA property.

  7. Quiet Hours: All cottages {occupants} must be quiet from 11:00pm to 8:00am.

  8. Personal Non-motorized Vehicles: Bicycles, skateboards, longboards, scooters, roller skates, and in-line skates may be used on MVCMA roads. Bicycles must be walked on walks and pathways. Skateboards, longboards, scooters, roller skates, and in-line skates are not permitted on walks and pathways. Motorized versions of these personal vehicles are not permitted on MVCMA property.

  9. Fires: Open fires are not permitted. Charcoal fires in braziers or covered grills off the ground must be a minimum of 10 feet from any building or vehicle. No fire of any kind is permitted in Trinity Park. Please do not leave fires unattended.

  10. Right of Access: MVCMA employees and agents have the unfettered right to access tenant‐occupied cottages for the purpose of providing security to the premises, for emergencies, and to investigate reported or suspected violations of MVCMA rules and regulations.
