Become a Volunteer

Join our Community as a Volunteer

“One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn't as individuals. When we pool our strength and share the work and responsibility,
we can welcome many people"  --- Jean Vanier

Thank you for your interest in volunteering! As the saying goes, “It takes a village!”

We are fortunate to have had so many knowledgeable and dedicated volunteers over the years – and our work cannot continue without the ongoing support of people like you.

If you have a passion for Martha’s Vineyard, history, and/or the MVCMA community and are excited to work with others, you will love being a part of the MVCMA Volunteer Team. Some areas require training and an ongoing commitment, while others can be short, one-time efforts. All are welcome!

Interested, but not sure what is the best fit? Sign up for our email list, and watch for our volunteer fairs in June!

Volunteer Job Descriptions

Garden Attendants – If you have a green thumb and a love of beautiful gardens, we can use your help somewhere around the grounds. Volunteer to adopt an area for the season and we can supply the plants.

Historic Archives – Our historic records are precious and require time and care to digitize for reference by future generations. If you have some time to dedicate to this important area, we would love to hear from you.

Tour Guides – Those who enjoy working with the public and sharing the MVCMA's unique history, may volunteer as docents for our historic walking tours. Training provided.

Programs and Special Events – The summer event season requires many hands to make sure things run smoothly – from distributing posters, set-up, and ticket sales to ushering and break down. Volunteers can help with one event or on a regular basis throughout the summer.

Spiritual Life – There is a calling for everyone’s strengths to help fulfill the MVCMA mission. We are looking for help with Jr. Camp Meeting, Children's Church, Worship Service Ushers, Choir Members, Liturgists, & “coffee & conversation” assistance at Sunday worship, as well as help with the Good Shepherd Program.

Technology & Social Media Team – We are looking for tech savvy volunteers who enjoy photography, videography, editing, and/or have social media skills to assist in our marketing and outreach efforts.

We appreciate your interest in our Volunteer Program! Please sign-up through our volunteer form, or contact the office with questions at: programs@mvcma.org
